You have to resize the image. Microsoft has a simple tool for that that you can download from here. After you install the tool, just right klik on the image you want to upload in Explorer and select Resize Image. The rest will speak for itself. A minimum size of 640x480 is recommended for the website, larger could also. Smaller is not recommended as users will not see the picture in all its beauty.

If your image is too big to be uploaded it is bigger than 2 Mb. Cameras these day produce large images, but the website only uses pictures in a 640x480 pxels format. The typical size of such an image is 100 Kb. Why would you want to upload 2 Mb worth of picture is the website reduces it to 100Kb? It takes unnessacary time.
